There are three different options inside the PDF template through which you can enter the values and add fields for your signees to fill in the data.

They are as follows:

  1. Blocks

  2. Variables

  3. Schema

But what are the differences between these options?

1. What are blocks?

Step 2 screenshot

Blocks are fields that help you to type text or upload an image that is not there in the PDF.

There might be instances when you feel that you want to add a field, an image or maybe a few lines to your template. You can make use of blocks to add new text and images. The signees cannot edit these fields.

For example, let's say you want to add a new signature field to your existing template, you can use blocks to add a heading to the signature field, "Signature:"

But, it will be displayed to your signees like this:

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

2. What are variables?

Variables are fields that can be added when you want to fill in the details yourself before sending it to your signees. The signees cannot edit these fields.

For example:

When you know some of the details of your signee such as his/her Name, Occupation, Company Name, Position etc, you can use the variables option to fill in the details yourself. Adding a variable would save time for your signees and will make their signing experience easier. Click here to learn how to set a variable inside your PDF.

This is how the signing screen would look to your signees:

________________________________________________________________________________________________

3. What is a schema?

Schema is used when you want to add fields for your signees to fill in the details.

You may even set a default value or a placeholder in a schema, but the signees can edit them as well.
